This is a vase project I threw on the wheel. The vase is smooth all the way around, it is 5.5 inches tall, and the colors I used was white, green, red, and cobalt. A new skill I learned while making this assignment was mixing glazes inside the vase to make a mixture at the bottom of it. An art element I used while making this assignment was color, shown by the dabbing of colors on the side. A design element I used while making this assignment was balance, shown by the base to the width of the vase. A feeling or mood I wanted to convey was to store flowers in, as the outside bursts of color would amplify the colors of the flowers in the vase.
This is a tall project thrown on the wheel. The project is rather smooth all the way down, it is 6.5 inches tall, and the colors I used was a white glaze, a shadow green near the bottom like grass, cobalt at the rim, and blotches of red to represent trees in the middle. A new skill I learned while making this assignment was blotch painting glaze on the project. An art element I used in this assignment was colors, shown by the painted scene. A design element I used was harmony, shown by the painting also. A feeling or mood I wanted to convey was a landscape.
This is a bowl I threw on the wheel. The bowl is shallower than a typical bowl, about 4 inches tall, and the colors used on it were white, cobalt, shadow green, and toothpaste. A new skill I learned while making this assignment was making a lower bowl in order to present it for serving. An art element I used while making this assignment was shape, shown by the shallowness of the bowl. a design element I used while making this project was balance, shown by the larger base to compensate for the wider bowl. A feeling or mood I wanted to convey with this assignment was the ability to serve something inside of it.
This is a plate I threw on the wheel. The plate is 7 inches wide, is relatively smooth from lip to center, and the colors I used on it were white, cobalt, shadow green, and toothpaste. A new skill I learned while making this project was making a thinner base than my other plates in hopes that it would be lighter. An art element I used in this project was form, was I wanted this plate to be smaller than the other. A design element I used during this assignment was proportion, as the rim of the plate is smaller to accommodate for the smaller eating plate. A feeling or mood I wanted to convey in this project was display, as I would rather look at this plate than eat off of it.
